Kai and the Ocean of Feelings

A story born from my own healing

This book began as a whisper. A quiet nudge during a season when I was learning to sit with my own waves of emotion, rather than run from them. As a mother, teacher, and space holder, I saw how often we’re taught to shrink our feelings, to tuck them away. I wrote Kai and the Ocean of Feelings as a love note to the part of all of us that feels deeply and doesn't always know what to do with it.

Kai is a little boy who learns how to notice, name, and ride his emotions, like waves in the ocean. His story is simple, but it holds something powerful: the idea that our feelings aren't problems to fix. They are messengers. They move through when we let them.

This book is for children, but it’s also for parents, therapists, teachers, and anyone who is learning that feeling is safe. That riding the wave is how we come back to shore.

It’s my hope that Kai and the Ocean of Feelings becomes a gentle companion for bedtime, for classroom circles, or for the moments when big emotions rise and you need a way in.
